FROM ME TO LAWYERS: WHERE DID BALA MOHAMMED DERIVE THE POWER TO STOP MINI-BUS FROM USING PUBLIC ROADS IN ABUJA
The roads in Abuja were built using the resources of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria. The roads were not built by the minister of the
Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed and President Goodluck
Jonathan with their personal monies which I understand is now very considerable
since they assumed their various offices. Since the roads in Abuja belong to
all Nigerians, where did Jonathan and Bala Mohammed derive their powers to stop
some Nigerians who are operators of mini-bus from doing business on the roads
of Abuja? With the army of human rights groups and civil society organizations
as well as human rights lawyers in the country, why is it that Bala Mohammed
has not been sued in a court of law to explain where he derived the power to
stop mini-bus operators from getting their “daily bread”. I am not saying that
mini-bus operators should not be regulated, but to restrict them to roads where
it would be economically unviable to survive, in order to make way for the
cronies of Bala Mohammed to have a major share of the transport business in
Abuja is what I detest. Human rights lawyers should rise up in defence of the
hapless mini-bus drivers before the three weeks grace granted them by Bala
Mohammed expires. Funny enough the mini-bus operators were the once that was
insulting our sensibility in the 2011 election when they emblazoned their
vehicles with Jonathan’s: BREATH OF
FRESH AIR! Jonathan and Bala have used and dumped them. Their indiscretion
not withstanding, we all must rise up to help them. INJUSTICE AGAINST ONE IS INJUSTICE AGAINST ALL!
