6 Candidates Receive NECO Excellent Awards
National Examinations Council (NECO)
has honoured six best students in three of the examinations it conducted during
the year under review.
Announcing the recipients at the
productivity award ceremony at the weekend in Minna, the Niger State capital,
the registrar of the council, Prof Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said it was meant
to encourage better performance among candidates.
Wushishi said the awards for the
students were classified on male and female categories and in three of the
examinations conducted by the council for internal students and pupils.
He listed the awards outside the
candidates’ categories to include good governance, best state coordinator, best
driver, most hardworking and dedicated staff in each department across the
states and zonal offices.
Those given the excellent awards were
Asiru Ahmed Opeyemi of Crescent International High School, Sango Ota, Ogun
State and Obidigo Chioma Blessings of St Paul's Academy, Jos, Plateau State.
They received the awards for the best candidates in the Senior Secondary School
Certificate Examination (SSCE).
Also, Akintola Samuel Oludarasimi of
Apostolic College, Ota, Ibadan, Oyo State and Onochie Chimanda Frances of
Igbinedion Education Centre, Benin City, Edo State emerged the best in Basic
Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Also in the National Common Entrance
Examination, Abundance Obot Idara of Monika Kindergarten and Elementary School,
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and Ajidagba Mariam Akanke of Unique Children Nursery and
Primary School, Lagos, emerged the best candidates.
