SUPREME COURT VERDICT: APGA INTEGRITY GROUP CONGRATULATES OBIANO
The All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA) Integrity Group has congratulated Governor Willie Obiano on his
well deserved victory in the Supreme Court over the 16th November
2013, gubernatorial election in Anambra State.
This is contained in statement
signed by its publicity secretary, Great Martin Kalu.
The statement reads in part, “We
also commend the Seven Justices of the Supreme Court for their courage in
delivering the three landmark judgments that resolved the appeals by Dr. Chris
Ngige, Tony Nwoye and Peoples Democratic Party. The apex court has reinforced
our confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of all aggrieved people and
determined to dispense justice without fear, favour and sentiment. Nigerians
will continue to approach the Court as the temple of justice. This is democracy
in action.
“Obiano’s victory is victory for
continuity of APGA progressive governance of Anambra State since March 2006.
The distraction is over, we urge opposition parties in the State to join hands
with the APGA government in deepening democracy, industrializing the State and
providing dividends of democracy to the people which will enhance their
standard of living. The interest of Anambra people should be uppermost in the
hearts of all indigenes and should not be sacrificed at the altar of partisan
politics.
“Governor Obiano should
accelerate his transformation agenda and ensure even development of the State
as his predecessor Mr. Peter Obi did. He should faithfully implement APGA
ambitious progressive manifesto and carry the people along as power resides in
them.
“We
salute the leadership of the National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh and urge him
to remain steadfast in building a strong party that will sweep the entire South
East States and beyond in 2015 general election. We reiterate our support for
Umeh’s Senatorial bid and enjoin the People of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone
to back him in his passion to provide quality, effective and robust
representation in the Senate. We commend the Federal Government for honouring
him with a national merit award of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) in
recognition of his contribution in promoting democracy and good governance in
Nigeria. He will be encouraged to do more if elected a Senator of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria. There will be abundant better life for the people of
Anambra Central if they elect Umeh as Senate who will cooperate with the APGA
governor in transforming the zone.”
