PMB’s Health: Do Not Be Deceived By Power Mongers
Drafters of Nigerian Constitution
were aware that the President of the country could get sick or have so many
things on his table than he can handle personally. That was why they created
the Office of the Vice President and made sure that the president and vice
president are elected on a joint ticket. That said, I don’t know why some
people are worked up because President Muhammadu is sick and they are now
talking about what happened in 1993.
The health status of Buhari has not
stopped Vice President Yemi Osinbajo from performing his function as vice
president and second most important administrator at the Aso Rock Villa. Those
from certain section of the country making noises over the health of the
president should find something better to do. In any case when President Buhari
returned back after his long medical vacation in the UK, he did say that he
needed rest and that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo should continue to do his job
in the same manner that he was doing that earned him accolades from Nigerians while
he (Buhari) was away.
At least Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
has not told Nigerians that the president needing rest over his ailment is
hindering his performance as vice president. It is therefore wicked to suggest
like the former national chairman of APC and Yoruba irredentist Chief Bisi
Akande, who is a confidant of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and APC national
leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a statement titled, “PMB's
Poor Health Already Taking Toll on Health Of The Country”, that the health of
the president is impeding the development of the country.
The Vice President should not allow
these Yoruba irredentists to destroy the famed cordial working relationship
between him and President Muhammadu Buhari, who abided by the constitution and
handed power to him when he travelled abroad for medical treatment recently.
Of course I am glad that the
National Assembly is made up of patriotic leaders who will rebuff those making
noises over President’s health and hinting quite unpatriotically of impeachment
and incapacitation. Those who were insulting the lawmakers and calling them
names, a few weeks back cannot turn to them to do their despicable agenda of
trying to throw this country into needless crisis.
The responsibility of every
patriotic Nigerian is to pray for the health of the president and anything that
suggests taking advantage of the president’s health for political advantage is
unpatriotic and condemnable.
