It Is Not What You Achieved That Matters, It Is What You Had Overcome
It is not what you achieved that matters, it is what you had
to overcome to achieve what you have achieved that makes you outstanding. That
is the major difference between President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush. One
was fathered by an immigrant father who abandoned him and was thus raised by a
single mother with all the challenges involved, while the other was the son of
a president raised by multimillionaire parents that doted him, in a family
where even his grandfather, Prescott
Sheldon Bush was a US senator between 1952 and 1963 and an oil magnet. That is
the difference between Bill Gates who dropped out of university to found Microsoft
and in the process revolutionalise the computer age and Dr. Stephen Hawking who
had to endure decades of suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis upon his
arrival at Cambridge in 1962 for graduate studies at the age of 20 and from
then onward has been suffering from a motor neurone disease, related to
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, that today(70 years old) he is almost entirely
paralysed and communicates through a speech generating device and has despite
this challenges risen to become arguably the greatest physicist alive today and
recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in
United States. As I write, Hawking is still struggling to seat still on his
wheel chair and battles to communicate, yet in all these challenges he has
continuously managed to do his research and pull crowd of scientific minds and
science enthusiasts everywhere he went around the world. What is your excuse? What
are your challenges? Arise and Shine knowing that it is what you have to
overcome that makes you the man and the woman that you are!
