The immediate past
governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido has announced his readiness to
honour the invitation given to him by Economic and Financial Crime Commission
(EFCC) on alleged financial
misappropriation.
The former governor revealed this while
fielding questions from newsmen shortly after he returned to the country from
foreign trips yesterday.
He said, to the best of his knowledge he
served Jigawa State to the best of his ability and for this he has nothing to
hide or to fear.
“EFCC has invited me, and being an institution
created by law, I am ready to honour the invitation, in fact I will visit their
office in Abuja tomorrow, Thursday”.
“EFCC had invited many former governors and
other public office holder, so I am not the first and I would not be the last”.
“Let me remind you EFCC had one time arrested
and detained my son for not declaring $40,000 when he was travelling to Egypt
along with his wife and children,” Lamido said
He also expressed profound gratitude to
thousands of his political associates and followers who received him from Dutse
International Airport and escorted him to his home town Bamain in a grand
reception.
Lamido had left Nigeria on 20th May for his
annual leave and left the state to the former SSG Lawan Abdu as acting
governor.
