Obanikoro’s Confirmation: APC Senators Having Corruption Cases In Court

Many of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senators who staged a walkout at the confirmation hearing of Senator Musliu Obanikoro as minister by the Senate have EFCC cases against them, yet that has not stopped them from retaining their seats in the Senate.
Senate minority leader Senator George Akume had protested at the Senate plenary today that the senate Committee chairman on Information, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was wrong to state that most of the APC senators had EFCC cases against them, saying such statement could create disunity in the senate and make them targets of EFCC. He called on Senate president, David Mark to call Abaribe to order.
However pauluwadima.blogspot.com investigations reveal that many of the APC senators have cases in court against them. The former governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje on October 20, 2011 was arraigned in court on allegation of milking his state to the tune of N52billion. The case is still in court, yet that did not stop Goje from operating as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Similarly Senator Hosea Ayoola Agbola is on trial at the Oyo State High Court. He was charged alongside former governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Former governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu was arraigned in court on March 3, 2010 alongside 18 others on a 149-count charge of fraud involving over N15billion. Former governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume besides the EFCC charges against him was also in court in 2013 where he was dragged before a federal high court in Abuja by human right activist from Benue State, over alleged forgery of his West African Examination Council Certificate and that he did not obtain any degree from University of Ibadan and that his NYSC discharge certificate is also false. Despite these weight allegations against him Akume remains in the senate.
