The former minister of state for Education, Mr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has won the Rivers State governorship election conducted on April 11 in the state.
However the victory of Wike is being disputed by the outgoing governor of the state, Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Dakuku Peterside who alleged rigging of the results.
Despite the protestations by Amaechi, Peterside and the APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) this morning through its returning officer, Professor Faraday Oruwense announced the result which showed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Nyesom Wike pulled 1,029, 102 votes to beat his closest rival, APC’s Dakuku Peterside who got only 124, 986 votes.
