Jonathan Sacks Suleiman, Appoints Arase As Acting IGP

President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba and appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase as the acting inspector general of police with immediate effect.
The sacking of IGP Abba and appointment of Arase was contained in a statement issued by special adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati.
Until his appointment as Mr Abba’s replacement, Mr Arase was the Head of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.
Mr Arise holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Law, as well as Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Political Science and Strategic Studies.
He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Defence College, the statement by Abati said.
