Bandit Overruns Military Base In Katsina
A gang of terrorists has dislodged a
joint military base at Nahuta village in the Batsari local government area of
Katsina State.
According to a reliable source in the
area, the bandits invaded the base around 11:30 pm on Sunday, setting two Hilux
vehicles ablaze and seizing numerous cattle and valuable properties from the
local community.
He added that the terrorists, who were
armed with high-powered weapons such as AK-47 rifles and General Purpose
Machines (RPG), overwhelmed the base in a well-coordinated attack.
A security source from the camp
verified the assault, confirming the destruction of vehicles and other valuable
items.
He added that there were no reported
fatalities, but the bandits demonstrated superior strength and firepower.
When contacted, the state police
command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said he had not received a report from
the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area at the time of filing this
report. The incident raises concerns about the security situation in the
region.
